CeratostigmaCeratostigma is predominantly southeast Asian in origin but does creep into tropical east Africa. The genus belongs to the family Plumbaginaceae to which obviously Plumbago belongs. It is sometimes described as the Hardy Plumbago. But here also belongs statice - the hosts of Limonium (350 species) which cover maritime and arid areas of the north hemisphere, and Armeria (100 species), the thrift or sea pinks, which are also mainly north hemisphere but do stretch down the Andes to the Magellan Straits of Chile in a similar distribution pattern to that of Ribes.
